Ankara Bilim University Library accepts donations of publications.
Principles for accepting donated publications
- The Library and Documentation Department accepts books, periodicals, non-book materials and other equipment needed by the library.
- Individuals or institutions wishing to donate must send a list of the proposed publications to the department in advance.
- Publications must be suitable for a university library, retain their currency and scholarly value, and support the university’s teaching or researchers’ social and cultural interests.
- For science and medicine, current resources published within the last five years are accepted; for social sciences, works of literary value are accepted.
- Donors receive a letter confirming acceptance. Individuals and institutions donating 50 publications receive a letter of thanks; those donating 500 receive a plaque.
- Photocopied or otherwise reproduced resources are not accepted.
- Publications distributed by newspapers as promotions are not accepted if their paper, printing or content differs from the original.
- Publications that are unclean, incomplete, stamped, annotated or marked are not accepted.
- Publications containing political or similar persuasive propaganda are not accepted.
- Incomplete periodical or encyclopaedia sets, items that do not complement the existing collection, and single issues are not accepted.
- Primary and secondary school textbooks, open education materials, duplicated course materials and lecture notes are not accepted.
- Donors cannot request special locations or separate shelves that disrupt the collection. A special section may be created for a substantial collection of manuscripts or rare works, subject to the Rector’s decision.
- The department decides whether materials are shelved or duplicate copies are donated or exchanged with other libraries.
- Donors cannot subsequently claim rights or make requests concerning donated materials.
